Recovery-Oriented Community Inclusion and Social Determinants of Health

Community inclusion of individuals in recovery from serious mental illness (SMI) is a legal and human right that addresses social determinants of health (SDOHs). The increased opportunities to live a meaningful life in the community that result from community inclusion initiatives enhance general medical, cognitive, and mental health and wellness. These opportunities will be applied to people with SMI but can also be applied to other populations where functioning is impaired. This course provides information for behavioral health professionals on how community inclusion can help individuals in recovery and strategies for using inclusion as part of the client's recovery plan.
